Lydia Flasher
Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Lydia Flasher is a licensed psychologist who serves on the Executive Board of California Psychological Association and brings 30+ years of clinical experience specializing in psychotherapy for children (10+ years), adolescents, families, and individual adults. She is experienced in treating a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and ADHD, as wells as life circumstances that impact mental health such as medical diagnosis and illness, identity development and relationship challenges. While incorporating empirically supported treatment approaches, she offers an individualized, strengths-based approach to help individuals achieve enhanced self-understanding, “grounding” and sense of purpose. Overall, she is committed to helping individuals and families understand and leverage their unique strengths and build resilience in order to navigate life’s demands, stressors and transitions.
For the majority of her professional career, and as a lifelong learner, Dr. Flasher has also been committed to teaching, training, and supervising the next generation of psychologists. She has been employed as the director of a university training clinic, the director of psychology training programs at Children’s Health Council in Palo Alto, and a professor in addition to supervising and training many graduate students/ interns/postdocs in the Bay Area.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her master’s degree and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Flasher successfully completed her doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Montreal Children’s Hospital before becoming a staff psychologist there.
Currently, she serves on the Executive Board for California Psychological Association and is also an executive board member for CPA’s Division II, Education and Training, where she is passionate about upholding the standards for training, education and supervision of the next generation of psychologists.
She is a former long-distance, competitive runner who has completed the Boston and Montreal International Marathons and strongly believes in the enormous rewards that come from perseverance as well as the importance of balancing positive physical and mental health.
